1969 Mustang Cobra Jet Headers

Q: hi guys, i own a 1969 mustang r code with a 428 cobra jet engine,will your 2inch or 21/8inch headers fit my car without scratching my engine bay, it has a c6 auto, and manual steer. hooker told me theirs fit and every pipe hit. regards phil

A: Good day, Phil. Sorry for the delay, but I needed to do some research with the race division, before getting back to you. Well, since the hedders were designed for dragstrip bound Mustangs (which have any engine compartment component that would slow the car down removed), I was not able to pin the tech down 100% regarding if it would fit without hitting. We have offered this hedder for many years, but he mentioned that from time to time he comes across fit issues. Variables, such as, motor mounts, heads, steering box, or suspension (particularly aftermarket) can have a significant effect on the fit. He did tell us that you would definitely need to remove the auxiliary cross brace.

We mentioned to the race division thtat you tried the Hooker brand and they hit. He told me that Hookers are very similar to ours, but a fraction of an inch difference here and there could make a big difference during installation.

Our apologies for not being able to give you a definitive yes or no, Phil. We do not want to see you waste money on shipping back and forth, so we do not want to give you a "yes", when we can not be certain. Rocket Industries is our dealer in Australia. Perhaps you could contact them and they may have a program that reduces shipping costs to consumers, since they ship between the states and Australia regularly. It is believed that hedder number 85150 OR 85151 will work. Before ordering ANYTHING, however, please double check with techsupport@hedmanhusler.com regarding the heads, mounts, etc. that are on your vehicle. If you give ours a try, you will be able to return them for a full refund (minus shipping) if they to not fit. I would suggest an uncoated version, then have them coated after the test fit. If you attempt to install a coated model and they get all scratched up they would not be returnable.
